U. P. Saddle Maker is tucked away in Chamanganj at 88/510. This is a part of town where leather work is in the blood. We’ve been crafting saddles and related gear for a long time now. It’s a small shop, really. You’ll find leather scraps and tools all over the place. It’s not a tidy showroom. We work with our hands, cutting and stitching everything. Most of our tools have been with us for decades. People come to us when they want something that’s actually going to last on a horse. We don't use much automation here. It’s mostly about the skill of the person holding the knife. Chamanganj is always loud and crowded, but inside the shop, we’re just focused on the piece we’re working on. We get orders from all over, which is surprising for a small place like this. We don't bother with fancy websites or advertisements. People find us because they know the quality of the leather we use. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us. We drink a lot of tea while we work and talk about how the trade has changed. It’s a quiet life despite the noise outside. We keep our heads down and just do the work. It’s been this way for generations, and we hope to keep it going as long as we can.
