Dreams Bakers

Dreams Bakers is located at 119, Delhi Gate. It’s an old part of the city, and our shop is right in the thick of it. We get started very early, often before the sun is even up, so the street is usually quiet when we first arrive. The first thing we do is get the ovens going. By the time the rest of the neighborhood is waking up, the smell of bread is drifting out the door. The shop isn't very big, and the counter takes up most of the front space. We’ve got some old wooden shelves that we use to display whatever we’ve finished baking. It’s a bit tight when more than two customers come in at once, but people don’t seem to mind waiting on the sidewalk for a minute. The walls are a bit yellowed from the heat and the flour dust gets everywhere, no matter how much we sweep. We don't have any fancy displays or digital signs. Just the bread and some handwritten price tags. Our staff is mostly family and a couple of neighbors who have been with us for years. We talk a lot while we work, mostly about neighborhood gossip or what we’re having for dinner. Sometimes we burn a batch or the dough doesn't rise right, and we just have to start over. That’s just part of the job. We aren't trying to be a big chain. We just like being the local spot at Delhi Gate.
