Itiyadevi Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group, Itiyadevi Farmer Producer Company Limited, is based in village Darapur in Hardoi. We work out of a space provided by Ram Naresh, who is one of the main people here. Hardoi is a good place for farming, but it keeps us on our toes with the changing weather and the soil conditions. We are local people through and through, mostly just farmers who grew up in these same fields. The village is quiet most of the time, except for when the tractors are running or during the peak harvest season. We don't have a big staff or a fancy building. It’s just a few of us handling the paperwork on an old desk and making sure the grain and other crops are stored properly. Sometimes the power goes out for hours and we have to do everything by hand or wait for it to come back on. It’s not a polished business, just a practical way for us to pool our resources and get a better deal for our hard work. We spend a lot of time talking to other villagers and trying to figure out the best way to move our produce without losing too much money to the middleman. There’s always mud on the floor and stacks of sacks in the corner. We don’t try to be anything we aren't, just a bunch of farmers in Darapur trying to make a living and support our families while the seasons change.
