Cholapur Kalyan Farmers Producer Company Limited

Out here in Paranapattichaubeypur Khurd, we have been farming the same land for as long as anyone can remember. It was Fayjdar Yadav who suggested we should actually organize ourselves properly as Cholapur Kalyan Farmers Producer Company Limited. Usually, we just meet up and talk while the sun is setting, but now we have more paperwork to deal with than we used to. Dealing with the crops and the markets is always a gamble, and doing it alone was getting harder every season. We don't have any fancy equipment or a big warehouse yet. Mostly, it is just us talking about the soil and which seeds worked best last year. Sometimes the transport doesn't show up on time, or the prices in the market go down right when we are ready to sell. It is frustrating, but having the group helps. We aren't some polished company with a big marketing plan. We are just a bunch of neighbors trying to figure out how to keep our farms going without losing our shirts. If you come by, you’ll probably find someone drinking tea and complaining about the weather. That is just how it is. We try to help each other out with the tractor or when someone is short on hands during the harvest. It’s a simple setup, really, and we just take it one day at a time.
