Our group is called Baba Khereshwar Farmer Producer Companylimited. We are located in Barauli, which is in the Bilhaur area of Kanpur. If you are looking for us, we are at Surjeet's place, he is the son of Shree Chote Lal. It is a small village setup. We don't have a big fancy building with a sign. It is just a place where we sit down and talk about the crops and the prices we are getting at the mandi. Kanpur is a big district, but out here in Bilhaur, it is all about the land. We have been doing this for a while now, just trying to help the local farmers get a better deal. It is hard to manage everything sometimes, especially when the rains are late or the pests are bad. We don't use any polished language because we aren't salesmen. We are just people who grew up with dirt under our fingernails. The office is usually a bit messy with sacks and samples, but we know where everything is. We try to be fair and honest with everyone who works with us. It is a simple way of living and working. We don't have big dreams of becoming a huge company. We just want to make sure the families here can keep farming and make ends meet every year. When the harvest is over, we celebrate a little, but then it is right back to preparing the soil for the next round. That is our life.
