Shri Ramratan Gupta A K Inter College is located out in Jhinjhak. If you know the Kanpur Dehat area, you know it is a bit of a trek from the main city. The school has been sitting here for a long time. It is an inter college, so we have the older kids finishing up their schooling here. The building itself is what you would expect from an older institution in this part of Uttar Pradesh. There is a gate that usually stays open during the day and a small courtyard where the students gather for the morning assembly. When the sun is out, it gets quite hot in the rooms, but the ceiling fans do their job as best they can. Most of the students live right here in Jhinjhak or in the small villages nearby. They walk or come on bicycles. It is not a fancy place with big posters or anything. We have the usual blackboards and wooden benches that have seen better days. The teachers come in from different parts of the district. Some take the train. Life moves at a slower pace here compared to Kanpur city. We just follow the government syllabus and make sure the exams happen on time. There is no big marketing team or anything like that. It is just a school where kids come to learn and then head home to help their families. The address is Jhinjhak, Kanpur - 209302. People usually just call it the Gupta college around here.
