S B Singh Smarak Inter College

Out in Kachhagaon, near Kanpur, we have been running this inter college for the local students. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city, but that’s where the families need us. The college is named after S B Singh, and we try to keep things running the way people expect in a place like this. We have the standard classrooms and a space for the students to gather. It’s not a fancy setup with air conditioning or anything like that, just ceiling fans and open windows. The dust from the road sometimes gets in, but we just sweep it out and keep going. We have teachers who have been with us for years and they know how to handle the classes. It’s mostly about the books and the exams here. We don't have a big marketing team or a glossy brochure. If you want to know about us, you just come by the gate and ask. Most of the people around 209111 already know what we are about anyway. We see a lot of hard-working kids who come from the surrounding villages. They want an education and we provide the place for them to get it. It’s a basic, functional school that gets the job done without any fuss. That is the reality of our daily life here. We just hope to keep the lights on and the books open for whoever comes.
