Zoa Farm is located over on Manacherry Pallavaram Main Road. If you know where Kundrathur is in Chennai, we're right around there at C-36. It's a bit of a drive from the city center, but the space is better for what we do. We mostly handle farm management and livestock things. It's messy work sometimes. We don't wear suits here. Usually, it's boots and old shirts because there is always something to fix or a fence that needs looking at. We started this because we wanted to see more local food coming out of this part of Tamil Nadu. It's a private company on paper, but it feels more like a family project most days. The traffic on Pallavaram road can be a nightmare in the mornings, so we usually start quite early to beat the heat. We’ve got a small crew who knows their way around a tractor and a shovel. Sometimes the machinery breaks down and we spend the whole afternoon covered in grease and dirt. That's just how it goes in this business. We don't really have a big speech about what we do. We just grow things and look after the animals. If things go well, we have a good year. If the rain stays away too long, we worry like everyone else in Chennai-600069. It’s a simple life out here, away from the big office buildings. We like it that way, even when the work is exhausting and the days are long.
