Dr. Clothescraft Academy Of Garment Industrial Fashion Technology is located at No. 5 on the II Main Road in Ttk Nagar. We are over in Irumbuliyur, West Tambaram. The building is usually full of the sound of sewing machines running. We have long tables where students or staff are cutting out fabric patterns. There are scraps of thread and cloth all over the floor by the end of the day. It’s a bit cramped with all the mannequins and rolls of fabric leaning against the walls. We teach how to make clothes and handle the industrial side of fashion. It’s more about the practical work than anything else. You’ll see people bent over their machines or marking chalk on some cotton. The light comes in through the front windows in the morning, which is a nice time to work. We have a lot of different patterns pinned up on the boards. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend an hour fixing a bobbin or oiling the parts. West Tambaram is a busy place, so there’s always noise from the street outside. We aren't a big fancy school, just a place where people come to learn how to sew and handle garment production. Most of us here just like working with our hands and seeing a piece of clothing come together from a flat piece of fabric. The kettle is almost always on in the back room for when we need a break.
