Our place is out at No:49, Sengadu Village, in the Sriperumbudur Taluk area. It’s a bit outside the main city, so it’s quieter, though the industrial growth around Manavala Nagar is picking up. Dongsung Precision Company Pvt Ltd is where we spend most of our waking hours. We focus on precision work, which means we have to pay a lot of attention to small details even when the shop is hot and the day is long. We have a mix of old machines and some newer ones that we brought in recently. The commute for some of the staff is quite long, so we try to make the workplace as decent as possible. There’s no fancy cafeteria here, just a small area where we eat our lunch and talk. The walk from the gate to the shop floor takes a minute, and you can hear the machines humming from the road. We deal with a lot of technical drawings and measurements that have to be just right. If something is off by even a tiny bit, it’s no good, so we end up redoing things more than we’d like. It’s part of the learning process, I guess. We aren’t trying to be the biggest company in the region. We just want to stay steady and keep the machines running. It’s a lot of routine, but there’s a certain rhythm to the work.
