General Degree College

The college is an old building with a lot of character. We have high ceilings and wide corridors. Being a degree college, we have older students who are working on their graduation. They come from all over Assam to study here. Some of them travel a long way every day. The atmosphere is quite relaxed, not like those high-pressure private colleges. We have a library that has been around for decades. The books are old and the shelves are made of heavy wood. The staff room is a place where we all gather to discuss the curriculum and the students. Guwahati gets a lot of rain, as you know. When it pours, the whole place feels very different. The trees around the campus get very green and the air cools down. We don't have many modern gadgets. Most of our teaching is done the old-fashioned way. The office is busy with admission forms and exam results. We handle everything with a small team. The building needs a bit of paint, and the fans can be noisy, but it’s a good place to be. We’ve been part of the Bamunimaidan community for a long time. It’s a simple, honest institution. We just focus on getting the students through their degrees and onto the next step.
