Down in Villdharahra, right at Preetam Gupta’s place, is where you will find us working. House No 33 is easy enough to spot if you are coming through the main road of the village. It is not a very big setup, but K P Ganga Kisan Producer Company Limited keeps a lot of us busy throughout the year. The weather out here near Kumhaila changes fast, so we are always talking about the clouds and when the next storm might hit the fields. Most of the men and women around here have been farming since they were kids. We meet up at the house to figure out who is taking what to the market and if the seeds we got are any good. There is usually someone drinking tea or complaining about the price of diesel. It is a loud, messy business sometimes. We don't have a website or anyone to answer phones in a professional way. If you want to talk to us, you usually just have to show up at the door and see if anyone is inside. We care about the dirt under our nails more than anything else. Some days the cows get loose and we have to go chasing them down the dirt paths. It is just life in the village. We do the work because it is what we know. The name on the papers says we are a company, but we are really just neighbors helping each other.
