We’re based in Tarahani village, which is near Odar and Sonhan in the Kaimur district. Bhabua Krishi Utpadak Swayat Sahkarita Producer Company Limited is a bit of a long name, but it’s who we are. We are a group of local farmers who wanted to do something together. In this part of Kaimur, everyone knows everyone, so it made sense to start a cooperative. We don't have a big office building. Mostly we just meet at someone’s house or near the fields when the work is slowing down for the day. We focus on the things that matter to us, like the price of urea or how the rice is looking this season. It’s hard work and the sun can be brutal, but we are used to it. We aren't really business people in the traditional sense. We are people who grow things. Sometimes the paperwork for the government is a real headache, but we have some younger folks helping us out with that. We just want to make sure our village has a way to sell what we grow without getting cheated. It’s about looking out for each other. We don't have any big secrets, just hard work and a bit of luck with the rain.
