Our group is the Sarhadi Vistar Farmers Producer Companylimited. We are based out of Bhuj, which is in the Kutch district of Gujarat. Our actual location is inside the Sardar Patel Market Yard. We have Godown Number 30 there. If you know the APMC market in Bhuj, it is a very busy place with trucks coming in and out all day long. Being in a border area like this, which is what 'Sarhadi Vistar' basically means, has its own challenges and way of doing things. We use the godown to store what the farmers bring in and to manage the logistics of it all. It is dusty and loud most days, but that is the reality of a market yard. We aren't sitting in fancy air-conditioned offices. We are right there on the ground with the produce. The group was started by local farmers who wanted to have a collective voice and a place to handle their goods. Kutch can be a tough place for farming because of the weather, but people here are resilient. We just do our best to help the members of our company get their stuff to market. It is a very hands-on kind of business. We do not have a lot of time for fancy talk. We just focus on the day-to-day operations at the APMC and making sure the godown is managed right so the crops don't go to waste.
