Spice Paradise

If you walk toward the Clock Tower in Jodhpur, you will end up in Girdi Kote. We are located right there at Amar Chowk. The name of the place is Spice Paradise, but it’s really just a regular shop where we handle all kinds of things. Being near the Clock Tower means it is always noisy. There are tourists taking photos and locals buying their groceries all mixed together. The smell of the market is very strong here because of everything being sold nearby. We open up early and stay late most days. The sun hits the front of the shop in the morning, so it gets bright inside. We have bags and containers sitting all over the place. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped when there are more than three people inside. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just put our items out and wait for people to stop by. Amar Chowk is a landmark, so we get a lot of foot traffic. Some days the dust from the road is a bit much, but we just sweep it out and keep going. We use old scales for weighing things and write everything down in a ledger. It’s a busy life in this part of the city. We don’t have much time for sitting around, but we wouldn't know what else to do with ourselves if we weren't here. It’s just the way it goes.
