Ashapurna Spices

Being located at N-11 in the Krishi Upaj Mandi on Mandore Road means we are right in the middle of all the action. The market is always crowded, especially in the early hours when the farmers and traders start showing up. You can smell the spices from a block away before you even see our sign. Ashapurna Spices is a small shop, really. We spend our days sorting through sacks and making sure everything looks right. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy bags and dealing with the dust that comes off the dried goods. My father started this, and I just kept it going because it’s what I know. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just our spot in the Mandi. The walls are lined with shelves that stay pretty full most of the time. Sometimes the heat in the market is tough, but we have a couple of fans that keep the air moving. Lunch is usually something quick from one of the stalls nearby. We talk to the other traders about the prices and the weather. It’s a simple life, and we don't try to make it sound like more than it is. We just sell spices to people who need them. Most of our customers have been coming here for years. They know we don't change much and they like it that way. We just keep our heads down and work.
