Pansari Mangilal Store

Pansari Mangilal Store is sitting at 48, Bada Bazar in the Indhra Nagar part of Jodhpur. Being in Bada Bazar means there is always a lot of noise and people moving around outside. Our shop is quite small, so we have to stack the bags of grain and spices pretty high up. It can be a bit of a reach to get things down sometimes, but we manage. We sell all the basic stuff a kitchen needs, from turmeric to large bags of flour. We don't have any polished floors or bright neon signs here. It’s just an old-fashioned store with wooden counters that have seen a lot of use over the years. Jodhpur is known for the heat, so we usually have the fan going, even if it doesn't do much. We know the people who live in the surrounding houses and they often stop by just to say hello or ask about the prices. We handle all the work ourselves, from unloading the supplies to doing the daily accounts in a simple book. There are no corporate rules here, just a local business trying to provide what the community asks for. We open the shutters every morning and spend our day chatting with neighbors while we weigh out pulses. It’s a steady way of life and we’ve gotten used to the daily routine.
