Sumit Textiles is located at No. 45-46 in Mehta Market. If you have ever walked through the market, you know how packed it gets. We occupy a couple of units right in the thick of things. It is not a very big space, but we make the most of every inch we have. Bolts of fabric are stacked nearly to the ceiling in some spots. We have been in Mehta Market for a long time, and we have seen shops come and go. It is a tough place to work sometimes because of the noise and the crowds, but we would not want to be anywhere else. There is a certain rhythm to the market that you get used to. We start early, sweeping the front and getting things ready for the first customers. We do not have a website or a fancy catalog. Most of our business happens face-to-face over a cup of tea. It is the old-fashioned way of doing things, and it works for us. Our records are mostly kept in big handwritten books. It might seem a bit behind the times to some, but we know where everything is. The lighting in the market is not always the best, so we often take samples out to the doorway to see the true colors in the sunlight. We are just a small shop trying to provide for our families. We treat everyone the same.
