Mahendra Tent Factory

Setting up a factory at Bapini No 216 was quite a task when we first started. Mahendra Tent Factory isn't a small thing to run, especially with all the heavy fabric and the long poles we have to move around every day. We are located near the Krishna Mandir on Shiv Road, which is a landmark most people in the area use to find us. The work is physical and by the end of the day, everyone is pretty tired. We deal with a lot of dust because of the open space we need for the tents. It’s not a quiet job, there is always the sound of hammers or sewing machines going in the background. My hands are usually pretty rough from handling the ropes and the canvas all day long. Sometimes the weather makes it hard, like when it rains or the wind picks up too much on Shiv Road. We just keep at it though. Our space at 216 is filled with all kinds of materials waiting to be turned into something useful. We don't have a fancy office or anything, just a desk tucked in the corner where I keep the books. People come by mostly because they know we've been in Bapini for a long time. It’s a simple life here, just making things with our hands and making sure the orders are ready when they need to be. We don't do much advertising, word of mouth usually does the trick for us around here.
