Classic Lights

Over at the Kalpatru Shopping Centre in Shastri Nagar, we have our shop, E-76. It’s called Classic Lights, and as you might guess, there are bulbs and fixtures everywhere you look. Some are hanging from the ceiling and others are just sitting in boxes on the floor because we haven't found a place for them yet. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes. When we turn everything on, the place gets really warm, so we keep the fan running at full speed. We spend a lot of time testing wires and making sure things actually light up before someone takes them home. The shopping center has been here for a while, and it has that older feel to it. We know the other shop owners around us, and we usually share a tea in the afternoon. People come in looking for a specific kind of light and we have to dig through the back room to find it. It’s dusty back there, but we usually find what’s needed eventually. We don’t use any high-tech systems to track things; it’s mostly just knowing where we put stuff last week. It’s a regular job in a regular part of town. We just show up, open the shutters, and see who needs help with their lighting that day. Nothing too complicated about it. We just keep the bulbs clean and wait for the next person to walk through the door.
