I run my practice out of Flat 3A in the Uttara building, which is at 374 Jodhpur Park. It is a decent spot in Kolkata, not too far from the Aurobindo Seva Kendra Hospital. Since the office is in a flat, it feels a lot more personal and quiet than those big glass buildings downtown. I work as a chartered accountant here, so the space is mostly filled with what you would expect. There are tax law books everywhere and stacks of files that seem to grow every week. My desk is usually a bit of a mess with papers, but I know where everything is. It is not some polished corporate setup with a fancy lobby or a receptionist. It is just a practical place where I sit down to get the work done. A lot of my time is spent looking at bank statements or trying to help people sort out their tax issues. Jodhpur Park is a nice neighborhood to be in. Having the hospital nearby makes it easy to tell people how to find the building. Clients usually give me a call before they drop by, and we just sit in the office and talk through their financial things. It is quite a lot of paperwork to deal with. Sometimes the ceiling fan makes a little noise and the Kolkata heat can be a bit much. I don't have any big signs or a marketing team. It is just me doing the accounting. It is a quiet life.
