My office, Vinay Mehta Ca, is located at H-19 in Umed Vilas, which is in the Shastri Nagar area of Jodhpur. Shastri Nagar is a pretty good place to be because it’s a well-established part of the city. The office is basically a converted space that works well for what I do. It’s not a big corporate building with a glass front. It’s more like a place where you can come in, sit down, and talk about your tax problems without feeling pressured. I’ve lived in Jodhpur for a long time and I started this practice to help local people manage their finances. There are usually a few of us here working on different files. The shelves are packed with old records because we've been at this for a while. We don't have any fancy mission statements or slogans. We just show up in the morning, answer the phone, and try to get the returns filed on time. The atmosphere is quite casual, really. If I'm not at my desk, I'm probably out at the tax office or meeting someone nearby. People in the neighborhood know where H-19 is, so it’s easy for clients to drop off their documents. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place. We don't do anything flashy. We just provide a service that people need and try to keep things as simple as possible for everyone involved. That is why we are here in Shastri Nagar.
