Dev Metals

Our place, Dev Metals, is right there in Upparla Bas, near Hathi Ram Ka Oda. We are inside Merti Gate too. It’s funny because there are a few of us metal shops in this neighborhood, but everyone has their own way of doing things. We’ve stayed in this spot because it’s where the work is. The streets are narrow, so getting big deliveries in can be a bit of a headache sometimes, but we make it work. We deal with various metal parts and scraps. It isn't a clean job. Your clothes get dirty and the floor is always covered in bits of metal. But it is honest work. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We just take the metal and do whatever needs to be done with it. The neighbors know us, and we know them. Sometimes the heat in this part of town feels like it’s trapped between the buildings, but we just keep a fan going and keep working. We aren't looking to expand into some giant factory. We like being right here where we can see everyone passing by the gate. It’s a simple life. We start early before the sun gets too high and we finish when the work is done for the day. That is how it has always been for us at Dev Metals.
