Shri A. K. Doshi Mahila College

Our college, Shri A. K. Doshi Mahila College, is right on Mahila College Road in Jamnagar. Being in Gujarat, we see a lot of students from all over the region who come here to study. The road is actually named after the college, so it is pretty easy to find us if you are in the 361008 area. It is a women’s college, and we have been a fixture of this neighborhood for a long time. The building has that older feel to it, with wide corridors and high ceilings that help with the Gujarat heat in the summer months. We have various departments and a library where the students spend a lot of their time reading or talking between classes. It is not a fancy or polished campus like you might see in a movie, but it works for us and the students. You will often see groups of girls standing outside the gates talking or heading to the local shops after their lectures are finished for the day. We do not have a mission statement or a fancy board of directors. It is mostly just the local staff and the professors doing their jobs. We keep the place running as best as we can, handling the admissions and the exam schedules year after year. It is a busy place, especially during the start of the term, but it usually settles down into a nice routine for everyone. We just focus on the teaching.
