Uc Mas Abacus Academy

You can find us at 43/5 in Trikuta Nagar, right here in Jammu. This academy is all about the abacus and helping kids with their numbers. It’s a busy little place most afternoons. When the schools let out, the students start arriving. You can hear the clicking of the beads on the abacus frames as soon as you walk through the door. It’s a sound we have grown very used to over the years. The rooms are filled with desks and chairs tucked into corners. We started this place because there was a need for some extra help with math in the neighborhood. It isn't a huge office or anything, just a practical space where kids can sit and concentrate. Trikuta Nagar is a good area, and being at 43/5 makes us easy to get to for local families. Sometimes it gets a bit loud when everyone is practicing their mental math out loud. We don't mind the noise though because it means the kids are actually working. The walls have some charts and numbers pinned up. We keep the lighting bright so no one has to squint. It is a straightforward operation. There are no big secrets or complicated systems, just teaching how to use the abacus step by step. We see the same faces every week and have gotten to know the parents pretty well too. Just a regular part of the local community in Jammu 180012. We keep the kettle going for the staff in the back room.
