Duty Society Tutors Club

Our place, Duty Society Tutors Club, is located at number 89 in Kachi Chawni. It’s right in the heart of Srinagar, and the 180001 area code is something we have lived with for years. The name might sound a bit formal, but we are just a group of people who wanted to create a space for studying. The rooms are basic. We have some long tables and chairs that we’ve had for a long time. They’ve got some scratches on them, but they serve the purpose just fine. Most days, the place is filled with the sound of pens scratching on paper and people whispering questions. We keep a few stacks of old books in the corner for anyone who needs to look something up. The neighborhood is always active, so there’s a bit of city noise that filters in from the street, but you get used to it after a day or two. We don't have any big corporate backing or a shiny office. It is just a practical space where we show up every morning. We make sure there is enough water in the cooler and that the lights are working. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just light a few candles or use the backup till it comes back. That’s just life here. We aren't trying to be the biggest center around, just a steady spot where people can come and learn without any fuss.
