Leadership Foundation

Leadership Foundation sits right on Canal Road in the Kailash Nagar section of Srinagar. It’s a pretty well-known part of the city, and being near the water makes it a little different from the more crowded market areas. We’ve been operating out of this building for several years now. It’s a straightforward setup with a few classrooms and a small area where we keep our files. The floor is mostly concrete, and we have some rugs down to keep the noise of footsteps from being too loud. People often find us because they live right here in Kailash Nagar and just walk over. We don't have any flashy signs or anything that stands out too much. Most of the work we do involves sitting down with students and going over their textbooks page by page. It’s quiet work for the most part. During the breaks, you’ll see everyone heading out to the road to get some air or a snack from the local shops. We try to keep the place organized, but with so many papers and books moving around, it always looks a bit lived-in. We aren't interested in looking like a big corporation. We just want the desks to be steady and the roof to stay dry when it rains. It’s a simple way to run a place, but it works for us and the families who come here. We are usually here from early morning until the sun goes down.
