We are based out in Uttar Bhuskadanga, right near where the Jalpesh Mandir is. It is a quiet spot in Jalpaiguri. Bhupendra Nath Roy started things here at his place, and that is where we still do most of our paperwork and meetings. Usually, the morning starts early because the heat gets a bit much later in the day. Our daily work revolves around agro stuff, mostly focusing on what the local soil here allows us to grow. It is not a fancy office or anything, just a room with some benches and files. Sometimes the rain makes the road to the village a bit messy, so we have to plan our transport carefully. Most people know us as the group working from Bhupendra’s house. A lot of time is spent talking to the guys in the fields and checking on the loads coming in. There is quite a bit of back and forth between the village and the main town. Since we don’t have a big marketing team, it is just a few of us trying to keep the records straight and making sure the crops are handled right. Some days are slow, especially when the power goes out, but we manage somehow. You can usually find someone sitting on the porch talking about the market prices or the next harvest. It’s just how we do things here in this part of West Bengal. Keeping it simple is our way of not overcomplicating the daily grind.
