We are based over at Gilandi More in Purba Magurmari, right near Dhupguri. You can find us at the address associated with Kalipada Roy. This whole thing started because a lot of us farmers in the Jalpaiguri area felt we could do more if we worked together. It’s a producer company, but really it’s just a bunch of neighbors trying to get a better handle on things. Gilandi More is a bit of a landmark for us. Having our base in Purba Magurmari means we are easy to find if you’re coming from Dhupguri. We spend a lot of our time just sitting and talking through the problems that crop up, which happens more often than we’d like. But that's just part of being a farmer producer group. We spend a lot of time meeting up at Gilandi More to discuss what we’re going to plant and how we can get a fair price for what we grow. It isn't always smooth sailing. We have plenty of disagreements about the best way to do things, but we always figure it out in the end. We don't have any fancy marketing materials or a big office with air conditioning. We mostly meet outside or in someone's living room. The goal is just to make sure everyone involved can keep their farms going. We deal with the same problems every year, like the rain coming too late or the pests getting into the crops.
