Our place, Space Granite Pvt. Ltd., is situated at Plot No F-8 in the IIIrd Phase. It’s an industrial area, so there’s always trucks and noise around. We’ve been in this spot for a good while. The yard is usually full of slabs and pieces we’re moving around. It’s heavy work, and our boots are always covered in stone dust. We don’t have a fancy showroom with lights and carpets. It’s just the plot where we store everything and do the cutting. Sometimes the rain makes it a bit muddy outside, but we just keep going. It’s a simple operation really. A few of us handle the lifting and the phones. We don't have a big front desk or a receptionist. If the gate is open, we’re usually around somewhere in the back. The sun beats down on the stone in the afternoons, making it hot to touch. We’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the machines and the loading. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know. We mostly deal with people who know exactly what they want. They come down to the IIIrd Phase, find our gate, and we show them what’s in stock. We don’t spend much time on computers. Most of our day is spent on our feet out in the yard. Sometimes the forklift acts up, and we have to spend half the morning fixing it. That's just part of the routine here. We don't have a big marketing department, just a few local guys who show up on time and do the heavy lifting.
