Nitu Granites

You can find us at Plot No G-1-22 in the industrial area over in Bishangarh. It’s a busy part of town with lots of other workshops around us. We focus on granite here. The shed is quite large to fit the big cutting machines. It stays pretty loud inside when everything is running at once. We usually have a thin layer of grey dust on everything, even the chairs in the small tea corner where we sit. It is a very practical place. We aren't big on decorations or anything like that. The granite blocks come in from the quarries on big flatbeds and we have to figure out the best way to slice them up. Some blocks are easier to work with than others. We have a few guys who handle the polishing and they have to be real patient because it takes forever to get the right look. It’s repetitive work but someone has to do it. The industrial area can get pretty crowded in the afternoons with all the deliveries coming in. We try to get the heavy loading done early in the morning if we can. Sometimes the power goes out and everything goes quiet for a while, which is when we usually take a break and talk. We just provide the granite as people need it. It’s a straightforward business and we don’t try to make it sound like anything else. We are just here at our plot, working through the stone until the day is done.
