Out here in Bhagali, we have our setup for handling marble and granite. It is a bit far from the main city, so it’s usually quiet except for the sound of the stone cutters. We have large blocks sitting in the yard waiting to be sliced into thin slabs. The ground is white with marble dust most of the time, and it sticks to everything. We don't have a fancy showroom, just the slabs leaning against the walls for people to see. Most of our days are spent checking the machines or helping the loaders get the trucks ready for transport. The weather out here affects the work quite a bit, especially when it gets too windy to move the heavy pieces safely. We have a small shed where we keep the tools and some spare parts for the saws. It’s a simple operation run by a handful of people who live in the local area. We don't do much advertising because most people find us by word of mouth or by just driving down the road. Sometimes we sit outside on the stone blocks during the evening break to watch the sunset. It is hard work and the days are long, but we like the rhythm of it. The stones are heavy and cold, but there is something good about seeing a finished slab ready to go. We just focus on the stone and making sure the cuts are straight.
