Vijay Patil Raver Kisan Organic Producer Company Limited

We’re over in Jalgaon, specifically in Raver at Gayatri Nagar. Our place is on Gut No. 1/2/2/1/A, which is a bit of a mouthful to say. Most people just look for us near Maraver. We deal with organic stuff, mostly because that is what the farmers around here are growing now. It’s a group of us working together. It isn't always easy getting everyone on the same page, but we try. The soil around here is good if you treat it right. We spend a lot of time out in the fields or sitting in the small office we have on Plot No. 30. There's usually a lot of dirt on the floor and a lot of tea being drunk while we talk about the crops. We don't use any of those big fancy corporate words. We’re just local people trying to get the organic produce to the markets. Some seasons are better than others, depending on the rain. Last year was a bit dry, but we made it through. We’ve got a lot of paperwork to fill out for the organic labels, which is the boring part of the job. Most of the time, we’re just making sure the seeds are good and the harvest is ready. It’s a long day, starting early and finishing late. We don't mind it much. It’s honest work and it keeps the community going. We just do what we can most days.
