Our group is based in Ratanpura which is in the Dhule district. It is a place where most people are involved with the land in some way. We set up this company to help women farmers in the Khandesh region get a better handle on their work. The office address is right here in Ratanpura, Taluka Dhule. We spend a lot of time sitting together and discussing what needs to be done for the upcoming season. It isn't a polished business with a lot of staff; it's mostly us doing the work ourselves. You can find us at the registered spot near the village center. Dhule is known for its heat, so we usually get started early in the morning before it gets too hot to think. The paperwork takes up more time than we'd like, but it has to be done to keep the company running legal. We talk a lot about seeds and the prices in the local market. Being a women's collective means we have to balance our home lives with the work at the producer company. Sometimes the meetings are loud and everyone has an opinion, but that is just how we operate. We don't use any complicated systems, just simple notebooks and a laptop when we can. It’s a practical way of living and working together in this part of Maharashtra. We’re just trying to keep the momentum going for the families involved in Ratanpura and the surrounding areas.
