Our place, Akshay Shivar Farmers Producer Company Limited, is located right on the Faizpur Road in Savda. We are at Gat Number 224/1/224/2/1, near the Om Tol Kanta. If you know the area in Jalgaon, you’ve probably driven past us many times. We are a small group of farmers who decided to pool our resources. It’s a practical setup because being near the weighing scale makes it easier for the trucks coming in. We handle various crops, but mostly whatever the local soil is producing this season. The office is basically just a small building next to the main road. It gets quite dusty with all the traffic and the wind, but we don’t mind much. We spend our days checking on the loads and talking to the drivers. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to do everything by hand, which is a bit of a pain. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity. We just want to make sure the folks around Savda have a place to bring their harvest. There’s usually a lot of noise from the road and the tractors. We don’t have any marketing people or slick brochures. If you want to know something, you just come and ask one of us. We’re usually wearing our work clothes and covered in a bit of dirt. It's honest work and we take it one day at a time. The paperwork is a bit of a mess sometimes, but the crops get moved and everyone gets paid eventually.
