Aashai Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in Talkheda, over in the Muktainagar taluka. You can find us at Navnit Dattatryay Patil’s house. We chose the name Aashai because it means hope, and honestly, that is what keeps most farmers going when the season looks bad. Muktainagar has its own challenges with the weather, and we have all seen our fair share of crops fail over the years. We started this company to give ourselves a better chance. Instead of each of us going to the market alone, we try to go as a group. Navnit’s place is where we keep our documents and where we sit down to talk about the future. We are not polished or professional in the way city companies are. We are rough around the edges, we talk loudly, and we usually have mud on our boots. But we know our land better than anyone else. We spend our time figuring out how to get better yields and how to keep our costs down. It is a constant struggle to balance the books and the farming work, but we are getting there slowly. We do not have any big slogans or mission statements to show off. We are just a group of neighbors who have known each other for years, trying to build something that makes our lives a little bit easier in the long run. There is a lot of work ahead of us, for sure.
