It’s just us here at Your Corner Hair Style in Jalandhar. We’ve been at Saheed Udham Singh Nagar for a good while now. If you look across from the Mini Lala Rattan Cinema, you’ll see our door. It’s a busy spot in Jalandhar City. Most days start early, getting the chairs ready and sweeping up the floor from the day before. The street outside gets noisy with the movie crowd, but inside it’s mostly just the sound of scissors and the radio playing some songs. We don’t have fancy stuff, just the basics that work. There’s a mirror that’s been here since we opened, and it shows its age a bit, but it does the job. People from around the neighborhood stop in, some for a quick trim and others just to sit for a minute and talk about the weather or whatever is happening in town. It’s not a big place, just enough room for a couple of people to wait and for us to move around the chairs. The light from the window is nice in the afternoons when the sun hits the cinema across the road. We keep our tools clean and our hands busy. It’s a simple life running a shop in 144001. Sometimes the power goes out and we just wait it out with the door open to catch the breeze. We have a small bench for people to sit on while they wait, and it’s seen a lot of use over the years.
