Shahid Hair Saloon

My hair saloon is in Chandan Nagar, Jalandhar City. It is right by the Atta Ki Chaki, and everyone knows the Chint Purni Mandir nearby, which helps with directions. It is a small place, mostly for the local men and boys from the street. I have a couple of chairs and the big mirrors are a bit old and silvered at the edges. I have been cutting hair here for a long time. It is not a place for those fancy modern styles, just a good old-fashioned haircut or a shave with a straight razor. I keep a radio playing Punjabi songs in the background to pass the time. The floor has a lot of hair by midday, but I sweep it up whenever I get a small break between customers. The neighborhood is very friendly, and people often stop by just to say hello or talk about the day. Sometimes kids come in for their first haircut and they cry a bit, so I have to be patient. I have a small wooden bench for people waiting their turn. I use simple soaps and common aftershaves. The shop isn't painted very often, but it is clean enough for work. It is a simple life here in Jalandhar. I know my customers' stories and they know mine. We don't have any fancy neon signs, just the name on the front board. It stays open until the last customer leaves for the night.
