Vishal Foundary & Engg. Works

Vishal Foundary & Engg. Works is located out in the village of Daburjee. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here, away from the main city noise. Being a foundry, it’s a hot and dirty job. We have the furnaces and the molds set up in a large open-sided shed. The ground is mostly dirt and sand used for the casting process. You can see the smoke from the chimneys when we are pouring metal. It’s a small operation run by local folks from the village and nearby areas. We do a lot of repair work for farm equipment and cast some basic parts that people need. There isn't a reception desk or a waiting room. Usually, you just walk in and find someone covered in soot to talk to. The dogs from the village wander in and out sometimes. It’s a very basic setup, but it’s been working for us. We don’t use any high-tech computers for the casting; it’s mostly done by hand and experience. The weather really affects us here. When it rains, we have to be careful about the moisture around the molten metal. In the heat of summer, we take a lot of breaks in the shade of the big neem tree outside. It’s just how life is at the foundry in Daburjee. We’ve been here since my father started the place.
