Saluja Jaggrey

Our shop, Saluja Jaggrey, is located right by the New Bus Stand. If you see Hotel Anand, you are basically there. It is a very busy part of town. There are always buses coming and going, and people walking by with their bags. We sell jaggery, and we have been at this spot for a long time. The smell of the jaggery is quite strong when you walk into the shop. We keep the blocks stacked up inside on wooden boards. People traveling on the buses often stop by to pick some up for their families back home. It is a convenient location for that. We do not have any fancy displays. The jaggery is just there on the shelves or in the crates. We spend our time weighing out pieces and wrapping them up in paper or plastic. Sometimes it gets really crowded when a big bus arrives and everyone gets off at once. We just handle the customers one by one. The noise from the bus stand is something we do not even notice anymore. It is just the background to our day. My brother helps me run the place. We keep things simple. We buy from the producers and sell it here. There is no big secret to what we do. We just make sure we have stock for the people who come looking. It is a steady life here near the hotel. We have seen many things change around the bus stand, but we just stay here and keep selling our jaggery. In the winter, more people come in because they want jaggery for their tea.
