If you are around Bmc Chowk in Jalandhar City, you have probably passed by us without thinking twice. We are right there, opposite the New Court, which means we see a lot of lawyers and people heading to their hearings. It’s a busy part of town, always loud with horns and people rushing somewhere. Jalandhar - 144001 is where we call home. The shop isn't anything spectacular to look at, just a regular sweets place with glass counters and some basic seating. We start early, usually while the mist is still hanging over the city in the winter months. The sugar and the milk come in first thing, and then we get to work. It is hot work, especially in the summers, but we are used to it by now. The court crowd keeps us on our toes during the afternoon hours. Sometimes they are in a hurry, other times they just want to sit for a minute and forget about their legal troubles. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know the drill. We don't use any of those modern marketing tricks; we just put the sweets out and hope people like them enough to come back. The tiles on the floor are a little chipped in the corners, but the place is clean enough. It's just a regular Jalandhar business trying to stay afloat and serve the local neighborhood every day.
