Shri Om Bikaneri Namkeen

You can find us over on Gaushala Road. It’s a lively spot, always something happening outside. We started Shri Om Bikaneri Namkeen because we liked the idea of making the snacks we grew up eating. It’s a small operation, really. Mostly we spend our time back in the kitchen area where it’s always warm from the fryers. The smell of besan and spices stays on your clothes all day. We don't have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a counter and the shelves filled with whatever we made fresh that morning. Some days it’s busier than others, especially when people are heading home from work and want something to eat with their tea. We use old recipes that have been around forever. Nothing too complicated. My brother helps out with the packing, and I usually handle the customers. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot, but the road is still as bumpy as ever. We get our supplies from the local market and try to keep everything moving. Sometimes we run out of the popular stuff by evening, and we just have to tell people to come back tomorrow. It’s just a regular local shop. We don’t do big ads or anything. People just know we are here on Gaushala Road if they want some namkeen. It's a simple life and we like it that way. Most of our regulars have been coming here for years now.
