Oxford Juniors is right on Gndu Road in Ladhewali, if you know the Jalandhar area at all. It’s a small place compared to the big high schools, but since we deal with the little ones, it feels twice as crowded. There’s always someone crying or someone laughing too loud. The walls have some scuffs from the kids running their bags against them, and there are probably some crayon marks we missed. We’ve been here in Jalandhar for a bit, and the locals usually know us by the yellow gate. It’s a bit of a walk from the main bus stop, but parents manage. The classrooms are filled with small chairs and tables that we’re constantly moving around. It gets dusty because of the road outside, so we’re always cleaning. We don't have a big office with leather chairs; it’s just a desk with a lot of folders and a phone that rings too much. Sometimes the water cooler leaks a bit, or we run out of chalk. It’s just the daily grind of a junior school. We spend most of our time making sure the kids don’t trip over their own feet. It’s not fancy, but it’s what we do every day. We know the neighbors and the shopkeepers nearby. It’s a simple setup, just us and the kids in this corner of Ladhewali.
