Jagdamaba Namkeen

Jagdamaba Namkeen has been sitting in Jasbir Colony for a few years now. Being in Noor Wala Village, you get a lot of locals who just want something crunchy for their afternoon tea. My hands are usually a bit oily from checking the bags or moving the big tins around. We don't do much advertising because people just follow the smell of the spices when we open the containers. The shop is small and the paint is peeling a bit near the bottom of the door where the rain hits it. I spend a lot of time sitting on the stool near the front, watching the cycles go by. It’s a simple place with a lot of yellow and orange bags hanging from the ceiling hooks. Sometimes the kids come in with a few coins after school and spend ten minutes deciding what they want. It makes the day go by faster. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just the sign out front that’s a little faded from the sun. My brother helps out on the weekends when it gets crowded. We just focus on keeping the stock fresh so the namkeen stays crispy. If it’s a humid day, we have to be extra careful with the seals. That’s pretty much the whole story of this place. We're just here every day, doing the same thing and seeing the same faces. It's honest work and it keeps the family fed.
