Kulwinder Stitching

My stitching shop is over at 29 B New Colony on Tanda Road. I’ve been doing this for quite some years now, and the sewing machines are rarely ever silent. People from the colony come by when they have a suit that needs fixing or some fabric they want turned into something wearable. It’s a small place, and there are always scraps of thread and pieces of cloth lying around on the tables. I don't have a big staff, just a couple of us working through the piles of clothes. Tanda Road gets quite busy, so there’s always something to see out the window when we take a break. Sometimes a customer wants something done in a hurry for a wedding or a party, and we have to work a bit late to get it finished. I don't use any fancy computer programs to design things; it’s all done by hand and eye, the way I learned a long time ago. The shop isn't a high-end boutique, just a place where work gets done. You’ll see the different colored threads lined up on the wall and the heavy iron we use. It gets warm in here during the summer, but we keep the fan going and keep on stitching. If you need a hem fixed or a new shirt, this is where we are. It’s just simple, honest work that keeps us going every day in New Colony. We always have a pot of tea ready for anyone who stops by.
