We sit inside the Renuka Hotel building on Chainpura Street. It's just north of Gandhi Chowk. Most days start early here because people want to see the fort or get out into the desert before it gets too hot. Jaisalmer is a dusty place but there’s a lot of life around Gandhi Chowk. We’ve been here a while now. The office isn't big. There’s a desk and a couple of chairs for people who stop by to ask about trains or cars. Sometimes the internet is slow, so we do things on paper. It gets busy during the winter months when tourists come through. We spend a lot of time talking to drivers and making sure the fuel is ready. It’s mostly about logistics. If you walk up from the main market, we are easy to spot. The hotel is well known around here. We don't have fancy signs or anything like that. Just a small spot where we handle bookings and answer questions about where the buses go. The fans are always running in the afternoon. Sometimes we drink tea with the neighbors while waiting for the next group to arrive. It’s a simple way of working. We know the roads around here well. If someone needs a jeep, we find one. It is just how things go in this part of town. We stay open until late evening usually. It's a lot of waiting and then a lot of rushing when a group arrives.
