Desert Haveli Guest House

Desert Haveli Guest House is located right inside the National Monument, which most people know as the Golden Fort of Jaisalmer. It is a very old building because it is literally built into the walls of the fort itself. We live here and manage the rooms for travelers who want to see what it is like to stay in such a historic spot. The rooms have thick stone walls and the windows look out over the narrow alleys of the fort. It is a lot of work to keep an old place like this running properly. We handle the cleaning, the cooking, and the maintenance ourselves. The stairs are quite narrow and steep because that is just how they built things hundreds of years ago. It can get very hot in Jaisalmer, but the stone keeps the inside feeling a bit more natural. We do not have a big staff or a fancy lobby like the hotels down in the new city. It is more like staying in someone's home. We spend a lot of time talking to the guests about the history of the fort and where to find the best local food. Sometimes it is a bit loud with the tourists walking past our door, but it is mostly peaceful. We just want to provide a decent place to rest while people enjoy the view from the fort. (245 words)
