Vishwakarma Arts

Our workshop is situated at H-81 in the Sitapura Industrial Area. It’s a busy part of Jaipur where there is always something being built or moved. We’ve been in this unit for quite some time, and the walls are covered in the marks of years of work. We do a lot of traditional crafting here, and the sound of tools is the constant background noise of our lives. It’s not a particularly clean place because we are always cutting, carving, or sanding something. There’s a layer of sawdust on almost everything, no matter how much we sweep. The people working here at Vishwakarma Arts are skilled, but we don't go around bragging about it. We just put our heads down and do the job that’s in front of us. Most of us live nearby, so the industrial area feels like a second home. We don't have a big corporate structure or fancy titles for everyone. If something needs doing, whoever is free just handles it. We drink a lot of tea to keep going through the afternoon slump, and we talk about the work as we go. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living. We aren't trying to change the world; we’re just trying to make good things at H-81 that people will actually want to use or look at. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know how to do.
