Indian Handicraft

Indian Handicraft is located right by the Chorawar Singh Gate. It’s a spot with a lot of history, and you can see people and tourists passing by all day long. Our shop is filled with all sorts of things that people make with their hands. We have shelves packed with items, and sometimes it feels like there isn't enough room to walk around. We don't have a polished showroom feel. It’s more like a collection of local work that we’ve gathered over time. Some of the pieces have been sitting there for a while, while others go out the door as soon as they arrive. We don't do much in terms of marketing. The location near the gate does most of the work for us because people just see us when they are walking through. We spend a lot of our time dusting the items and talking to the people who stop by to look. It is interesting to see what people find beautiful. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just like these crafts and we think they should be available for people to buy. Most of the stuff we have comes from local makers who have been doing this for generations. It’s a small, dusty shop with a lot of character, and we are happy to spend our days there among all these handmade things. Every item has a story, even if we don't always know it ourselves.
