Our place, Jaipurhandicrafts, is located right near the Khole Ke Hanuman Temple on the NH-8 Delhi Bye Pass Road. It’s a nice area, even though it gets really busy with pilgrims and travelers during the festivals. We have a lot of items packed into the space we have here. You can see the temple from the road, and we’re just a short walk from there. Most days are spent moving wooden crates around or checking on the new batches that come in from the makers in the villages. It’s a lot of manual work, honestly. My hands are usually a bit dirty from the packing materials and dust. We don’t have a big showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s more of a working space where we organize the crafts. People stop by on their way out of Jaipur sometimes when they see our sign. We show them what we have on the shelves. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the boxes stacked up toward the ceiling. The fan in the corner makes a clicking noise that I’ve stopped noticing after all these years. We just focus on getting the handicrafts ready to be sent out to whoever ordered them. It’s quiet in the early mornings before the traffic picks up on the bypass. We like being near the temple because it feels like a good spot to be for a business like ours. It’s just us doing what we’ve always done.
